In this policy, “we” and “us” mean
TryLease, which operates trylease.in. This page describes what
actually happens to your information on this site — not a general
statement of intent.
What we collect
- If you list a property: your name, mobile number and
email address, and everything you enter about the property — its
address, rent, deposit, terms, description, photographs, and a trading name
and logo if you give them.
- If you enquire about a property: your name, your email
or phone number, and your message.
- If you create an account: your password, which is
stored scrambled with a one-way hash and a random salt. Nobody here can
read it, including us. If you forget it we can only replace it.
- Automatically: your IP address, kept briefly and used
only to stop the same source flooding the site with sign-ups, log-in
attempts or enquiries. A small session cookie, so you stay signed in.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any tracking script
of any kind. There are none on this site. You can check — view the page
source and look.
Who can see what
This is the part worth reading properly.
- Anyone at all sees an approved listing: the property,
its terms, its photographs and its locality. They do not see your phone
number or email address. That is the point of routing enquiries through
us.
- A property owner is told that an enquiry has arrived
on their listing. They are not sent the enquirer's name, number, email or
message — we pass those on when we introduce you.
- TryLease sees everything above, so that we can check
listings and put people in touch.
- A trading name you asked us to keep private is not
published, and neither is the logo that goes with it — a logo is the
name in picture form, so the two are withheld together.
Photographs
Pictures are resized in your own browser before they are sent to us. That
is done for speed, and it has a second effect worth knowing: it strips the
hidden data a phone attaches to a photograph, which routinely includes the
exact coordinates of the room it was taken in. Your photographs reach us
without it.
Who else is involved
Three companies handle your information because they run parts of this
site. We do not sell anything to anybody.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, the database and the
photographs.
- Resend sends our emails, so it handles the address a
notification goes to.
- Two content networks serve the fonts and icons the
pages use, and so see the IP address of anyone loading a page. We would
rather they did not, and will serve those files ourselves in time.
How long we keep it
Your listings and your account stay until you remove them or ask us to.
Enquiries are kept as a record of who was introduced to whom. The IP records
used for rate limiting are deleted within a day. Sign-in sessions expire on
their own.
What you can ask us to do
Write to support@trylease.in from the
address on your account and ask us to:
- correct anything that is wrong;
- take a listing, a photograph or a logo down;
- stop publishing a trading name;
- delete your account and what is attached to it.
We will do it and reply within seven days. We do not need a reason.
Children
TryLease is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly hold
information about children. If you believe we have, tell us and we will
remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes
with it.
